As you might have observed based on my resume, I have minimal formal work experience, along with a lacking formal education—I might have a GED due to a 9th grade education, however, this is what makes me stand out from the rest.
You might be wondering, “why the hell would we need a deadbeat drop out at our company?” Which, I perceive to be a fair question to ask. I counter that with the question, what kind of person finds themself in such a position?
I have MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome), I no longer get medical treatment for it, despite spending my entire childhood to teen years in and out of specialists throughout the Bay Area. I had to read countless studies, teach myself physiology, learn my own unique physiological processes through trial and error—I am the type of person that is capable of connecting with anybody, anywhere, due to this personal battle of comprehending what makes a human.
I’ve lived in a different state every year since placing most of my symptoms into remission at 20—relying on others in certain ways, myself also being relied on; I have various trigger foods (peanuts, soy, oats, gluten) that has made me into a phenomenal cook, I’ve been an unprofessional personal chef to multiple people. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to learn about other cultures throughout the US, and meet countless immigrants from around the world. My journey has led me to homelessness, domestic violence shelters, near death experiences; my disadvantaged path that I was born into, has given me a new lease on life that I spend every single day trying to show to others.
From Maryland, to Delaware, to Pennsylvania, back home to California, then off to Indiana, to then find myself here, in the most expensive city in the USA where my best friend (who is now my brother) has allowed me to move into his home to get on my feet, because he believes in me so dearly. I learned what I am capable of by throwing myself into new places, with people I hardly knew, at time
